Games for iOS: Controls Peculiarities Part II

Ninety nine out of a hundred games for iPhone are available on iPad and vice versa. But their difference in size always becomes a challenge for developers. One would think: what’s the trick? Is it so hard to stretch a game so it became bigger? Yes, this is pretty simple. But nobody will do so. Just imagine the game that was so handy to play on iPhone became three times as big together with all buttons.

It will just look stupid and awkward; moreover, it will be just impossible to play. Controls will be so far away from each other that players will have to place their iPad on a table and play waving their both hands. So it is nothing but natural that a professional iOS software developer won’t do this to their customers. It is absolutely okay to use the same graphics for both games, and generally the code will remain unchanged.

But some controls changes are necessary. When making a game for iPad it is important to think about handy UI and make the game as simple to play as possible. We will call it a perfect result if both iPhone and iPad versions of a game allow to play with two fingers only. This can even make any game or application more popular among users.
