It’s been long enough that we love iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S premium design of glass and steel. But gravitational pull doesn’t seem to be so friendly to this excellent device, and each smatrphone’s fall can result in braking back and front panels into pieces. So it is nothing but natural that after some wire problems had been resolved, Apple has paid their attention to the crash-worthiness of the glass used in their production.
There appeared some rumors in the
Web concerning a new Apple’s patent, which describes different ways of improving glass fastness of iPhone and iPad. In the document itself, there are descriptions of various approaches of resolving this task, but the most interesting are only two of them; first is the most realistic and second is the most technological.
According to the description of the first approach, the company suggests to place a special shock-absorbing material between the carcass and the glass panel of the device. This material is capable of absorbing striking energy effectively. Moreover, this layer will protect the devices from water a bit more.
The technological variant looks less realistic.
The thing is that Apple suggests providing the devices with additional set of sensors, a controller and electric drive. All this is need to detect the device falling and put a special protective glass forward in time.
It’s hard to imagine how it will look like and where it will be located. The solution will probably will look like the protective panel of the unassailable Tank case.
Whatever Apple chooses, we wish it was sooner. User’s loyalty will definitely become higher if the next iPhone 5 will outride strokes of fate better.
